NFSU2 system requirements for PC, emulator and browser

The 2004 PC box, a PS2 emulator and a browser build are three different machines. This page does not merge them.

Original Windows box

PCGamingWiki reprints the retail PC floor: Windows 98, 2000, ME or XP, a Pentium III at 933 MHz, 256 MB of RAM, 2 GB of disk, a 32 MB graphics chip and DirectX 9.0c. That is the 2004 box, not a promise about Windows 11.

PCSX2, kept separate

The PCSX2 requirements page, read the same day, asks for an x86-64 CPU with SSE4.1, a PassMark single-thread score of at least 1500, 2 cores and 8 GB of RAM at the minimum tier, plus Vulkan 1.1, Direct3D 11 or OpenGL 3.3. The moderate tier on that page moves to 4 cores, 16 GB, and Vulkan 1.3, Direct3D 12 or OpenGL 4.6.

I am not translating those emulator floors back into the 2004 Pentium line.

Browser build

The browser-support note on nfsu2.org lists WebGPU, WebAssembly shared memory, Atomics.waitAsync, a secure cross-origin-isolated page and about 1 GiB of shared memory. It points at current desktop Chrome or Edge. The same note gives an engine around 35.5 MB plus about 1.98 GB of game data.

No minimum GPU model is printed there. I left that cell empty instead of guessing a card.

Three requirement sets. Empty cells were not published.

FAQ

Will a modern laptop run the disc version?

The published floor is from 2004. Windows 10 and 11 need the fixes pages, not a new official spec.

What does the browser version need?

WebGPU and the memory features above, in desktop Chrome or Edge. A GPU model is not listed.

Are Android and Mac the same spec?

No. Those ports publish their own pages. Do not reuse this table for them.
